Twenty years of shaping careers
The Institute of Hospitality, Management and Sciences (IHMS) was established in 2006 under the aegis of the Shri Balbhadra Singh Negi Educational Society, so that the ambitious students of Uttarakhand would not have to migrate to distant places for quality education.
Garhwal is world-famous for its cuisine and for the chefs it has given to the world’s leading hotels, so IHMS began with hotel management. It then grew to BBA, BCA and B.Sc IT, and later the AICTE-approved MBA and MCA – today a multi-disciplinary institute for management, computer science and hospitality.
Besides management ethics, IHMS develops technical, professional and managerial excellence together with social, cultural and environmental sensitivity in its students.

Laat Subedar Balbhadra Singh Negi, OBI, IOM
The visionary soldier whose dream gave the Garhwalis a regiment of their own – the Garhwal Rifles, raised on 5 May 1887. His third generation founded the Shri Balbhadra Singh Negi Educational Society, under whose aegis IHMS was established in 2006.

1887
The first battalion of the Garhwal Rifles is raised – the dream of Laat Subedar Balbhadra Singh Negi.
2004
The Shri Balbhadra Singh Negi Educational Society is registered on 16 April.
2006
IHMS is established in Kotdwar, starting with hotel management.
2010
The first BCA batch graduates and our alumni network begins to grow.

Seven programmes – NAAC accredited, ISO 9001:2015 certified, AICTE-approved MBA & MCA.
MBA · BBA – Where future leaders are shaped, entrepreneurial minds are nurtured and career dreams take flight – home of the MBA and BBA at IHMS Kotdwar.
MCA · BCA · B.Sc IT – BCA, B.Sc IT and MCA with three computer labs, mentorship and IT placements – with an alumni network that began with our first BCA batch in 2010.
BHM · CHM – Where IHMS began in 2006 – the BHM and CHM, with training kitchens, a restaurant and bar, hotel labs and industrial training in leading hotels.
