It gives me immense pleasure to introduce the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology. We strive to promote academic excellence and are committed to an environment that fosters innovation and creativity.
Our aim is to prepare students for the challenges of ever-evolving technologies – to make them valuable to industry and ready for higher education – with the best faculty, labs and development environment we can offer.
Our alumni base, which began with the first BCA batch in 2010, has been placed at companies such as Infosys, Deloitte, TCS, Wipro, HCL, Capgemini and Accenture. Regular activities for product development, skill enhancement and interdisciplinary interaction, together with our mentorship system, help every student grow. Who can apply for MCA?
- At least 50% aggregate (45% for reserved categories) in BCA, B.Sc. (Computer Science), B.Sc. (IT) or any three-year graduation with Computer Science as a subject; or
- B.A., B.Com. or B.Sc. (any stream) with Mathematics, Statistics, QT or Business Maths at graduation or 10+2 level.
- Final-year students can apply; admission is confirmed on passing.
- Admission through the IHMS Entrance Test or CUET score, followed by counselling.

- University registration, enrolment and examination fees are paid separately on the university portal, as per university norms.

Scholarship is calculated on the first-semester tuition fee and adjusted across every semester. Only one scholarship applies per student, and the scheme agreed at admission stays the same for the whole programme.

What is the MCA fee at IHMS Kotdwar?
The total programme fee is ₹2,60,000 for two years: ₹80,000 in the first semester (including one-time charges) and ₹60,000 in each of the next three semesters. University exam fees are paid separately.
Is the MCA approved by AICTE?
Yes. The MCA is approved by AICTE and affiliated to Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University.
Can I do MCA without BCA?
Yes. Graduates in B.A., B.Com. or B.Sc. who studied Mathematics, Statistics, QT or Business Maths at graduation or 10+2 level are eligible, with at least 50% marks (45% for reserved categories).
Is there an entrance exam for MCA?
Admission is through the IHMS Entrance Test or a valid CUET score, followed by counselling.
